A Free Restaurant Kitchen Inventory to Kick-Start Your Profit!

A kitchen inventory is pretty much a given if you are in the restaurant business. It is an absolute must to keep track of all the items and ingredients you buy every day. You don’t want to neglect this aspect of your business, trust me; it is the most important aspect of your business. The more you put it off, the worse it is for your pocket!

However, sadly, a lot of us tend to neglect it since it is quite a task! Or, we hire someone else to do it for us, and if we’re not highly vigilant, the person makes a healthy profit of his/her own, at our expense! Pretty infuriating isn’t it? Moreover, a kitchen inventory is required for the successful running of the restaurant.

Scary Scenario!

Picture this, a regular patron of yours walks in after the usual dinner crowd has left. It’s half an hour before closing time, they order their favorite – lasagna- but your kitchen staff is not able to provide them with it. The reason being that they are short on one or more ingredients and all the lasagna they had prepared earlier has been sold!

Disgruntled, this particular patron has to order something else. But he/she isn’t too happy about it. That’s a strike against your establishment! Next time, they’re probably going to go somewhere else for good old lasagna. This could see a decrease in the footfall of your restaurant. After all, if regular customers are disappointed, they’re going to spread the word!

What it Entails

Your kitchen inventory spreadsheet will come to the rescue. It should include the number of purchasing units of each kind of food stuff as well as the unit price of each product. You need to match this up with the number of count units and the unit price of each as well. This will ensure that you actually have the total quantity of raw material that you’re supposed.

This cannot be done in any haphazard manner either. You should draw up a spreadsheet and include the categories of foodstuff you generally purchase. Then, put in the specific foodstuff in the list, under the appropriate sub categories.

This might not seem like a big deal at the outset, but it’s a lifesaver when you want to match figures in a hurry! A free kitchen inventory spreadsheet is my gift to you, have fun embarking on the journey to a successful restaurant business!
